A Survivor's Guide Series: How an Irishman Survives and Tries to Thrive in the United States
It's been over 43 years since this Wandering Yank left his American shores, and all of his roots, to take a simple Holiday in England, Wales and Scotland. What transpired was much more loving but very, very complicated.
A Survivor's Guide to Living in Ireland was the result of that surprising trip. But this best-selling Memoir and Travel Guide was not the only result. (To Buy the very latest version of A Survivor's Guide to Living in Ireland, click on the Link just above).
Now, as I write this on the 8th of September 2025, I look back at the hardship I had when I first moved to Ireland as well as the many loving gifts. Three grown children, five grandchildren, a painful divorce, a loving relationship with my partner Carmel Murray an Irish woman I met many years ago, the Dementia which Carm was diagnosed with, and the decision to move back to the United States for many business and research reasons.
Today, I would like to announce the release in the SECOND TRAVEL GUIDE / MEMOIR about the United States of America. It's been years since I've lived in this country. My experineces here, as well as my personal history will also include such necessary areas as:
HOW TO APPLY FOR AND RECEIVE A WORK VISA (OR NOT!)
WHERE TO VISIT (IF YOU'RE A TOURIST VISITING AMERICA)
HOW TO GET A JOB HERE IF YOU DO ACQUIRE A WORK VISA
DETAILS ON WHICH AIRLINES TO FLY COAST TO COAST; WHICH HOTELS AND RENTAL CARS TO BOOK; HOW TO USE AI TO HELP YOU IF YOU NEED TO CONDUCT SOME QUICK RESEARCH
HOW TO FIND A LAWYER IF YOU NEED ONE
AND.... A SHORT GLOSSARY OF AMERICAN TERMS AND PHRASES IF YOU'RE A FOREIGNER HERE (MUCH LIKE I AM). This will also include what to say and what NOT to say.
In this rather short Travel Guide and Memoir, I'll also go into where you can find a rather good pint of Guiness; where to buy Irish, Indian and other foods from nearby grocery stores, and how to make sure you don't have an accident by driving a car with the steering wheel on the Left rather than the Right as I've grown used to.
As they say in Ireland, Sure, this'll be a great Slan journey. I hope.
So God bless ye and enjoy this fine journey with yours truly. I'll have the Book up online in about 2 months, God willing. All the Best from the shores of the United States of America.
